Hilda Parker, age 74, of Vandiver passed away March 6, 2013.

Hilda was born March 8, 1938 to Bruce and Lorene Perry. Hilda graduated from Vincent High School in 1955. She was honored to have been selected to deliver the salutatorian address of her senior class. Hilda began a 30-year career with Mira-Flex in 1959, ending with her retirement in 1989.

Hilda married R. E. Parker on Dec. 25, 1962. The couple recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 25, 2012.

In her last months, Hilda accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Over those months, she began a very loving and open relationship with our Lord.

The family would like to give special thanks to Rhonda, Deanna, Eric, Lawanda and Evelyn with Care First Hospice in Pell City. A very special thanks to Faye Currie for her loving devotion.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Lorene Perry; sister, Faye Parrish; sister, Sarah Parker; brother, Harvey Perry; and sister, Paula Cook.

Hilda is survived by her loving husband, R. E. Parker.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at the church beginning at 5 p.m.
