Calera rallies to tie Chilton County

CALERA – The Calera Lady Eagles softball team scored a pair of runs to tie the Chilton County Tigers 4-4 at the Calera Invitational tournament March 8.

Calera (5-5-1) trailed 4-2 heading into the fourth.

The Lady Eagles recorded four straight hits from the bottom portion of the order, but was only able to bring home two runs – one on a wild pitch. Chilton County ended the Calera rally with a double play.

Somer Roberson led the Lady Eagles batting 2-for-2 with a RBI. Kymber McGilboney and Charley Clark each had a double for Calera.

Emily Sanders pitched four innings and allowed two earned runs on six hits with a walk in the loss.

The Eagles began the tournament with a 19-4 rout of John Carroll. Calera scored 15 runs in the second inning to cruise to the victory.

Clark went 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBIs and three runs to lead the Lady Eagles. Roberson went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a double.
