Chelsea splits on final day of Pleasant Grove tourney

The Chelsea Hornets softball team finished the Pleasant Grove tournament with a 3-1 record after splitting its final two games March 9.

Chelsea (6-6) started the second day of the tournament with a 10-0 victory over the Briarwood Lions. Chelsea scored three runs in the second and added six runs in the fifth to seal the win. Alexis Eisenberg allowed three hits and no runs along with five strikeouts over five innings in the win for the Hornets. Bailey Coyne led Chelsea batting 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Briarwood’s Marleigh Miller, Morgan Reed and Rachel Walz each had hits for the Lions.

The Hornets ended play with a 14-7 loss to Brookwood. Brookwood scored seven runs in the first and fourth innings to claim the win.

Chelsea’s JoJo Johnson led the way batting 2-for-2 with a triple, RBI and three runs scored.Erin Jones added a 2-for-3 effort with two RBIs.
