The Shelby County Ladycats defeated Sylacauga 4-0 in area action March 12.

Shelby County (9-0, 3-0 in Class 5A, Area 6) got on the board in the top of the first with a solo home run by Kaitlyn Paschall. Sara Catherine Nash tagged up and scored on a Harrison fly ball to center field to extend the lead to 2-0 in the third. The Ladycats added 2 more runs in the fifth when Jaselyn Harrison singled and scored Brittany Lansford, then Ashlyn Blackerby singled and scored Harrison.

Paschall (4-0 on the season) set the tone in the circle with 12 strikeouts while giving up two hits and allowing no runs through seven innings of work.
