Citizens’ Night to honor Montevallo residents March 28

MONTEVALLO – It’s going to be a red carpet evening in Montevallo on Thursday, March 28 for the Citizens’ Night Awards Banquet.

Leaders, students and educators will be honored by civic organizations, community groups and schools for their outstanding work, according to a press release from the Montevallo Chamber of Commerce.

Civitans, Rotary, AAUW, Shelby Emergency Assistance and Montevallo Boys and Girls Club will all honor outstanding members. Montevallo schools will recognize their teachers of the year, and students who have also distinguished themselves, the release stated.

The University of Montevallo will present its Good Neighbor Award to an individual or group that has demonstrated a significant commitment to moving the university forward.

The City of Montevallo will honor a Friend of Montevallo for his or her support of the city. The highlight of the evening is the presentation of the Chamber’s awards to the Civic Leader of the Year and the Citizen of the Year, the release stated.

The evening’s program also includes selections performed by the Montevallo Community Chorale. Members of the Montevallo High School National Honor Society will serve as hosts for the event.

Members of the planning committee include Lea Ann Webb, Ruth Robertson, Betty Savage and Montevallo Chamber Board members.

This 35th Citizens’ Night Awards Banquet is in Anna Irvin Hall on the University of Montevallo campus and begins with dinner at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and are available at the Montevallo Chamber of Commerce office at 845 Valley St., Regions, Trustmark and Lucky’s.
