Briarwood claims pair of victories at Vestavia

The Briarwood Christian Lions defeated Vestavia Hills and Pelham March 16.

The Lions (10-6) began the day with a 9-1 victory over Vestavia Hills. Briarwood took a 2-1 lead after the fourth, and then added four runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to take the 9-1 win. Barnes Blankston allowed one run on two hits with five strikeouts in the win. Daniel Robert led the Lions batting 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and three runs scored. Will Hardin finished 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI. Tanner Cunningham hit a triple while batting 1-for-2 with two runs scored.

The Briarwood Lions scored four runs in the last three innings to take a 5-1 victory over Pelham. Cameron Adams threw five innings and allowed one run on two hits with two strikeouts and three walks in the win. Daniel Robert picked up the save with two strikeouts and a walk in two innings of work.

Cunningham led the Lions batting 2-for-3 with two runs. Ethan Simmons batted 2-for-3 with a double while Hardin was 2-for-4. Harrison Cain drove in two runs while batting 1-for-3.
