HOMEWOOD – University of Montevallo senior Kaley Glover and juniors Lauren Recchia and Shay Bonner provided the highlights for the Falcons in the Samford Invitational women’s track and field meet March 16.

The competition marked the Montevallo women’s track and field team’s second meet in its inaugural season.

“We had some great performances today,” said Montevallo women’s track and field coach Tommy Barksdale. “The team has continued to work hard and it showed today. We had some personal bests across the board. I couldn’t be more excited in the direction we are heading.”

Glover finished fifth overall in individual standings in the 5,000-meter run with her time of 18:16.98. Glover shaved off nearly 17 seconds from her qualifying time in the finals.

Recchia finished fifth overall in individual standings in the 800-meter run with her time of 2:27.45. Recchia improved her time by more than two seconds from her qualifying heat.

Bonner finished 11th overall in individual standings in the 100-meter dash with her time of 12.90 seconds, which left her less than one second behind the event’s winner.

Sophomore Madison Brown provided the top finish in a field event. Brown finished fifth overall in individual standings in the javelin throw with her toss of 113 feet, 8 inches.
