After a valiant fight for life, Jimmy Alton McGaughy succumbed to cancer on March 16, 2013. Jimmy’s bright smile and joyful spirit captured the hearts of all who knew him.

Jimmy was employed at Brown Lumber and Building Supply in Columbiana where he spent 27 years as a member of the Brown Lumber family and friend to the owner, Andy Brown.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sandra Harper McGaughy; son, Jay Harper McGaughy (Kerri); daughter, Lacey Gayle M. Aman (Jayme); and one very special grandson, Micah Jay McGaughy; brother, Homer Alton Bearden; sister, Eleanor McGaughy Viles; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Please rejoice in knowing that Jimmy is resting in the arms on his Lord and Savior, free of the disease that destroyed his earthly body, but not his loving spirit.

Funeral service will be held at Rockco’s Funeral Home in Montevallo on March 20 at 2 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to his service. Mr. Dennis Draper and Judge Ron Jackson officiating. Burial to follow in the Salem Cemetery in Montevallo Rockco Funeral Home Montevallo directing.
