Oak Mountain splits games at Mountain Brook tourney

The Oak Mountain Eagles fell to Clay-Chalkville and defeated Mountain Brook at the Mountain Brook tournament March 19.

The Eagles (13-9) began the day with a 5-2 loss to Clay-Chalkville. Clay took an early 4-0 lead in the first and added a run in the sixth. Oak Mountain avoided the shutout with two runs in the top of the seventh.

Justin Hoyt took the loss allowing five runs on six hits with eight strikeouts and a walk. Jared Spivey led the Eagles batting 2-for-3 with a RBI.

Oak Mountain held on to an early two-run lead in a 2-1 victory over Mountain Brook.

Sean Thompson threw five innings of shutout baseball allowing two hits with three strikeouts and a walk. Chandler Clower pitched two innings and allowed a run on two hits in the save.

Heath Quinn led the Eagles with a 1-for-1 performance with a home run, RBI, walk and a run scored.
