Montevallo falls to Flagler College in conference match

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The University of Montevallo women’s tennis team fell to Flagler College 6-3 in a Peach Belt Conference match March 22.

Flagler College entered the match ranked No. 41 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s NCAA Division II women’s tennis rankings.

The Falcons (7-7 overall, 3-6 in Peach Belt Conference) won two of three doubles’ matches and one singles’ match against the Saints.

Sophomore Niki Polcerova defeated Barbora Sebkova of Flagler College 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles’match.

Polcerova and junior Anais Robert defeated Hanna Goettsching and Thaisa Pereira of Flagler College 8-5 in the No. 1 doubles’ match. Senior Lauren Blair and freshman Juanita Ossa defeated Krista Ingrilli and Anika Cohen of Flagler College 8-5 in the No. 3 doubles’ match.

Junior Haley Highfield fell to Esther Santiago of Flagler College 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles’ match. FreshmanAllison Howell fell to Goettsching 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 3 singles’ match.

Robert fell to Pereira 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 4 singles’ match. Ossa fell to Ingrilli 7-6, 6-3 in the No. 5 singles’ match. Blair fell to Cohen 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 in the No. 6 singles’ match.

Highfield and Howell fell to Santiago and Sebkova 9-7 in the No. 2 doubles’ match.

The Falcons return to action Tuesday, March 27 with a non-conference match against BYU-Hawaii at 10 a.m.
