Bruster’s sits at the foot of Indian Crest by the Winn Dixie Shopping Center. You pronounce “Bruster’s” like roosters, and you can’t miss the cheery red-and-white building. This specialty ice cream store gives Indian Springs residents a special place to enjoy freshly made frozen treats.

Jessica Eanes is the manager. “The thing that makes us unique as an ice cream store is we make all our ice cream and waffle cones fresh every day,” she says. They offer enough different flavors to please anyone.

How do they know what flavors to make? “It’s all about the customers for us,” explains Jessica. “Bruster’s servers strive to be the neighborhood ice cream store. They build relationships with customers.” Knowing their customers tells them what flavors to make each day. Then, they make plenty of those flavors!

“Ice cream is fun,” Jessica goes on.“We try to make this a fun place. We have bubbles, side walk chalk, hula hoops, and of course, the playground.” That extra work to give customers a truly enjoyable experience pays off. At a Bruster’s corporate convention three weeks ago, this store won an award for best turn-around in a re-opened store.

Besides delicious ice cream, Bruster’s offers sundaes, milk shakes, freezes and individually decorated ice cream cakes and pies. To order one for a birthday party or other celebration, call them at 408-8801. It is good to give them a day’s notice on special orders.

Bruster’s also offers treats without milk, called ices and sorbets, for people who are lactose intolerant.

They also serve low-fat yogurt and no-sugar added ice cream for those on special diets.

The store hours are Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Bruster’s has plenty of specials. Children under 40 inches tall get a free baby cone. Dogs get a free doggie sundae, a baby scoop of vanilla with a dog biscuit!

If it is raining the day you visit, you get a second scoop free!

On Thursdays, bring your own banana to receive a banana split for half the regular price.
