Montevallo women’s basketball to host summer day camp and June Jam

MONTEVALLO – The University of Montevallo women’s basketball program will host a summer day camp June 10-13 along with a June Jam camp June 14.

The camps will be directed by Montevallo women’s basketball head coach Cindy Hilbrich along with assistant coach Tiffany Morton, as well as current and former Montevallo women’s basketball players.

The day camp is available for all boys and girls from ages 5-17. All aspects of the game are taught for players of all levels. Offensive and defensive stations are run daily. The day camp will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily Monday-Wednesday. The day camp on Thursday will run from 9 a.m.-noon.

The day camp, which includes a t-shirt and basketball and lunch at the University of Montevallo cafeteria, begins with a check-in on Monday morning from 8:15-9 a.m.

The fee for the day camp is $100 per camper. Each individual camper will save $25 if eight or more players attend the day camp from the same team.  The team coach must email the team roster ahead of time to qualify for discount.

The June Jam is available for any high school or Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team as a team camp. Each team is guaranteed three games.  At least one Alabama High School Athletic Association certified official will officiate each game.

Lunch is not included with the team camp, but an on-site camp store will be open with drinks and snacks. No outside food is allowed.

Registration will start at 7:15 a.m. Friday morning, with the first game starting at 8 a.m. Each game will be 16-minute halves with a running clock starting with a 25-point lead. The field will be limited to the first eight teams registered and deposit received.

Fees for the June Jam include a $100 charge per team plus a $20 per player fee. A $50 team fee is due June 7 as a non-refundable deposit.

The state of the art McChesney Student Activity Center (SAC), located on the University of Montevallo campus, will be the main playing facility. Other on-campus facilities utilized may include Myrick Gymnasium.

Hilbrich guided the Falcons to a NCAA Division II era record 17 victories during the 2012-2013 season. The Falcons also won a program-record 12 conference games during Peach Belt Conference play.
