The Spain Park Jaguars held off Brentwood Academy for a 9-8 victory to open the 2013 Baptist Health System Hoover Bucs Spring Break Classic March 25.

Josh Close hit a two-run triple in the bottom of the sixth to give the Jaguars an 8-6 lead, and then scored on a Brentwood error for the game-winning run.

Matt Berler pitched six innings and allowed five earned runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts and a walk in the win for Spain Park. Josh Rich allowed one earned run on two hits in one inning for the save.

Brandon Bilek led the Jaguars with a 3-for-3 effort with a double and three RBIs. Close finished the game batting 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Grant Veteto added a 2-for-3 performance with a double and a RBI.
