Falcons finish 11th in Bearcat Classic tournament

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The University of Montevallo men’s golf team finished 11th in team standings at the Bearcat Classic tournament March 25-26 hosted by Lander University at Greenwood Country Club.

The Falcons carded a 5-over par 293 in the third and final round of the tournament March 26 to move up three spots in team standings following the first two rounds. Montevallo collectively carded a team score of 915 strokes in the tournament, which placed the Falcons 37 strokes behind tournament winner Belmont Abbey College.

The Falcons finished one spot ahead of tournament host Lander.

Junior Conner Godsey led Montevallo with his 6-over par 222 in the tournament, which placed him in a tie for 12th overall in individual standings.

Freshman Juan Noce finished 33rd overall in individual standings with his three-round total of 12-over par 228. Fellow freshmanJordan Campbell, who shot a 16-over par 232 in the tournament, finished in a tie for 57th overall in individual standings.

Freshman Dalton Skinner, who posted the Falcons’ low mark in the final round with an even par 72, finished in a tie for 66th overall in individual standings with his tournament total 18-over par 234.

Senior Austin Murphey rounded out the group of Montevallo golfers with his three-round total of 34-over par 250, which placed him 95th overall in individual standings.

The Falcons return to action April 1-2 at the Buccaneer Invitational tournament, hosted by Barry University, at Normandy Shores Golf Club in Miami Beach, Fla.
