Volunteer firefighters participate in meth lab training

Volunteer fire department personnel from across Shelby County recently participated in a clandestine laboratory class presented by the Shelby County Drug Task Force.

The personnel, including volunteer firefighters and EMTs, learned what to do when encountering possible meth labs on emergency calls. More than 120 firefighters and EMTs attended one of the three training sessions.

Those assisting with the training sessions included the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force, the University of Montevallo, Shelby County High School, Vincent High School, Regional Paramedic Service, the Fourmile Fire Department, the West Shelby Fire Department and the Cahaba Valley Fire Department.
