Montevallo drops women’s tennis match against top-ranked Pirates

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women’s tennis team dropped a Peach Belt Conference match 9-0 on the road March 30 at top-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University.

The Falcons (8-10 overall, 3-8 in Peach Belt Conference) dropped all six singles’ matches and all three doubles’ matches against the Pirates, who entered the match undefeated in Peach Belt Conference play and ranked No. 1 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s NCAA Division II women’s tennis poll.

Sophomore Niki Polcerova, the reigning Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week, fell to Clara Perez of Armstrong Atlantic State 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles’ match. Junior Haley Highfield fell to Barbora Krtickova of Armstrong Atlantic State 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles’ match.

Sophomore Anais Robert fell to Marlen Hacke of Armstrong Atlantic State 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 3 singles’ match. Freshman Juanita Ossa fell to Olga Kalodzitsa of Armstrong Atlantic State 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles’ match.

Senior Lauren Blair fell to Natasa Vukovic of Armstrong Atlantic State 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5 singles’ match. Sophomore Meagan Stevens fell to Jessica Gardefjord of Armstrong Atlantic State 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6 singles’ match.

Polcerova and Robert fell to Kalodzitsa and Hacke 8-3 in the No. 1 doubles’ match. Highfield and Howell fell to Perez and Vukovic 8-3 in the No. 2 doubles’ match.

Ossa and Blair fell to Krtickova and Gardefjord 8-1 in the No. 3 doubles’ match.

The Falcons return to action Wednesday, April 3 with a non-conference match on the road at the University of West Alabama. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
