Billy J. Shaw, age 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013. Born on June 16, 1926, to Velma and Louis Shaw, he lived on the family land that he loved. He is survived by his brother, Hubert Shaw (Ruth); daughter, Wanda Layton (Dale); grandchildren, Dale Layton (Tandra), Shawn Grubb (Rob), Heather Reid (Kevin) and Kristen Scheinert; and great-grandchildren, Jordan Harrison (Jacob), Madison Layton, Morgan Grubb, Erin Grubb, Kelsey Reid, Natalie Layton, Andrew Layton and Kaleb Reid. Too many to name individually are his church family at Union United Methodist Church, his horse riding family at his barn, his gospel music family, his golf buddies, his in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of others. Of special mention are his “boys” from the ranch who called him Pop.

He is reunited in heaven with his bride of 65 years, Mary Nell Adams Shaw; his daughter, Anita Marcus (Elliot); and his brothers, Lane Shaw (Faye) and Wendell Shaw (Louise).

Bill was a cowboy; a man’s man. Tough on the outside with a tender heart within. If you spent time with him, you were in the company of a master storyteller. Generous, steadfast and fiercely loved to the end, our world will never be quite the same without Bill Shaw.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. on April 2 at Union United Methodist Church (also known as Union, The Church at Chelsea Park). The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. John Hill, Rev.
