Shelby County falls to Calera

The Calera Eagles defeated county-rival Shelby County for the first time in program history in a 6-5 Eagles’ win at the Montevallo tournament April 13.

Calera scored all six of its runs in the first inning, and held off Shelby County’s five unanswered runs.

Somer Roberson pitched five innings in the win allowing two earned runs on six hits. Shelby Wright led the Eagles with a 1-for-3 effort with two RBIs.

Jessica Carden pitched less than an inning and allowed five earned runs on four hits with a walk.

Brianna Buie led Shelby County with a 2-for-3 effort with two doubles and two runs scored.
