Jaguars down Wetumpka in doubleheader sweep

The Spain Park Jaguars scored a total of 22 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Wetumpka April 15

Spain Park began the day with an 11-3 victory over Wetumpka. Josh Rich pitched five innings for the win and allowed three runs on four hits with four strikeouts. Josh Close led Spain Park batting 2-for-3 with a RBI. Will McDonald added a 2-for-4 effort.

The Jaguars scored six runs in the fifth inning to close out an 11-0 victory in game-two. The Jaguars (22-15) were led by McDonald’s 3-for-3 effort with a triple, double, RBI and two runs. Jon Sumner and Mickey Forrest each had a hit with two RBIs for Spain Park.

Trey Hawker pitched four scoreless innings in the win and allowed six hits with four strikeouts.

Spain Park will return to action in the Class 6A playoff when they travel to Thompson for a three-game series beginning April 19 at 4:30 p.m.
