Pelham falls in extra-inning thriller

The Pelham Panthers softball team scored in the sixth to send its game against Vestavia Hills into extra innings, but were unable to responded after the Rebels took the lead to hand the Panthers a 2-1 loss in nine innings April 17.

Emily Spain pitched eight and two-thirds innings and allowed two runs on three hits with two strikeouts and a walk.

Caitlyn Sapp led Pelham (30-4) batting 2-for-3 and Whitney Gillespie finished 2-for-4 with a run.
