Montevallo women’s golf finishes sixth at conference tournament

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women’s golf team finished sixth in team standings in the Peach Belt Conference championship tournament April 21 at Callaway Gardens.

The Falcons, who collectively carded a 50-over par 334 in the final round, finished with a two-round total of 98-over par 666. Montevallo finished ahead of North Georgia and Young Harris in the conference tournament.

Lander University won the conference championship after shooting a two-round total of 43-over par 611. Armstrong Atlantic State finished runner-up with a 52-over par 620, followed by third-place finisher Flagler College with a 55-over par 623.

Freshman Morgan Natale paced the Falcons with a two-round total of 11-over par 153, which placed her seventh overall in individual standings. Natale led the Falcons with an 8-over par 79 in the final round.

Meghan Moore of UNC Pembroke claimed the conference tournament’s individual championship after shooting a two-round total of 5-over par 147.

Sophomore Ashlee Beck finished in a tie for 22nd overall in individual standings after carding a two-round total of 23-over par 165. Junior Hilary Shaner shot a two-round total of 28-over par 170, which placed her in a tie for 27th overall in individual standings.

Junior Kira Chaudhry, who shot a two-round total of 36-over par 178, finished 32nd overall in individual standings. Senior Kayla Witt rounded out the group of Montevallo golfers with her two-round score of 55-over par 197, which placed her 36th overall in individual standings.
