Vincent drops series to Horseshoe Bend

VINCENT – The Vincent Yellow Jackets were one out away from closing out their Class 2A first round playoff series against Horseshoe Bend; however, the Generals rallied to send the series to a third game and captured the series with a 10-7 victory April 22.

Cade Carroll took the game-three loss allowing seven runs on seven hits with two strikeouts. Chase Howard led Vincent with a 3-for-4 effort with three RBIs.

Horseshoe Bend trailed 2-1 heading into the sixth inning of game-two, but scored three runs to take a 4-2 victory to even the series April 20.

DJ Brasher pitched six innings and allowed one earned run on five hits with three strikeouts and a walk. Gere Chatham went 1-for-3 with a double and a RBI while Zach Baucom went 1-for-2 with a RBI in the game-two loss.

The Yellow Jackets started the day with a 6-0 victory in game-one. Vincent scored four runs in the third and added two more in the sixth to take the win.

Hayden Laddie pitched five scoreless innings and allowed five hits with two strikeouts in the win. Daniel Hawkins led the Yellow Jackets with a 3-for-4 effort with a triple, two RBIs and a run.
