A creative community

Decades ago, the Bluff Park building that now houses Artists on the Bluff was known as the Bluff Park Community School.
Now, the building’s classrooms are again being used as classrooms — but instead of textbooks, calculators and chalkboards, these students are using art supplies to create an amazing variety of art, from oil paintings and drawings to pottery and silver jewelry.
Their teachers are the titular artists of Artists on the Bluff, a growing arts center on Park Avenue that houses some of the area’s most creative minds. The building’s rooms house 18 studios and around 20 artists.
“The goal is really to have a place, a community of artists. It’s a place where artists can come and create,” said Artists on the Bluff Director Rik Lazenby.
