Organizers for the upcoming XTERRA races at Pelham’s Oak Mountain State Park are looking for volunteers to help with everything from handing out water to handling timing.

From May 18-19, OMSP will welcome the XTERRA American Tour featuring athletes from all over the world coming to swim, run and ride mountain bikes.

The weekend will feature a full day of triathlon racing on Saturday, May 18 with the XTERRA Southeast Championship. On Sunday, May 19, runners will compete in 5K, 10K, 21K and full marathon trail races.

Volunteers are needed both days to register athletes before the race, prepare food and drinks in the recovery tent, hand out water and Gatorade on the course, serve as course marshals, and help out the timers. Volunteer shifts will run from approximately 7 a.m.-2 p.m. each day.

“All volunteers will receive a great-looking event T-shirt, lunch and the undying gratitude of the XTERRA Tribe,” read an event press release. “If you want to have a great day at the park and help show the world what Alabama hospitality is all about, please come on out.”

To join the volunteer team, contact XTERRA Volunteer Coordinator Dayton Morinaga via email at dayton@xterraplanet.com or call 808-754-2567.
