HOOVER — The city of Hoover is moving forward with a baseball field for children with special needs.

A Shelby County architectural firm, Barry Davis Architects, designed the Hoover Miracle Field.

During the May 6 Hoover City Council meeting, the council accepted a bid of $319,873 from Coston General Contractors to build the field.

The field will be located at the Hoover East Sports Complex on Old Rocky Ridge Road, and will include a field with a cushioned rubberized surface to help prevent injuries, wheelchair-accessible dugouts and a completely flat surface to serve wheelchair-bound or visually impaired players.

Barry Davis Architects began designing the field early this year, and construction is slated to begin in early summer.
