The Alabama Department of Transportation is encouraging drivers to expect delays and consider using alternate routes as the agency completes paving and marking on Interstate 65 from Alabaster to Pelham.

The project will involve striping, marking and placing raised pavement markers on a portion of interstate between exit 242 in Pelham to exit 238 in Alabaster. The stretch of road recently was patched and repaved in several places.

Weather permitting, the project will be conducted from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each day from Monday, May 13-Thursday, May 16.

“Motorists can expect delays during these operations. Motorists are also requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs and use extreme caution in this area,” read an ALDOT road advisory issued May 13. “ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this maintenance operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.”
