Gladys S. Gaut, age 94, of Alabaster, formerly of Fayette, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2013, peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on June 6 at Hubbertville Church of Christ with Bro. Larry Alexander officiating with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Hubbertville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on June 5 at Bolton Funeral Home, Columbiana.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and a true Christian person. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Our “Mama” worked hard all of her life and is now enjoying the rest she deserves. “I will lay me down in peace, and sleep; for thou, Lord only makest me dwell in safety.” (Ps 4:8) Her family would like to thank her doctor, J. Mark Adams and his staff as well as all the caregivers from Comfort Care especially Frances Gosnell and Jennifer Dunagan. A special thanks to neighbors, Bessie Brewer and Elwood Jones for assisting in her care.

Mrs. Gaut is preceded in death by her husbands, Hollis Dodd and James O. Gaut; parents, Fenton and Dora Anthony; sisters, Berta Myrick and Jess McCollum; brother, Joyce Anthony; daughter, Norma Jean Fowler; son, James E. Gaut; and great-grandsons, Steven Blackwell and Austin James Difronzo.

She is survived by her children, Yvonne Difronzo (Chicago, Ill.), Donald Gaut (Calera), Linda Montgomery (Marietta, Ga.), Sharron Gaut (Alabaster),Terry Dodd (Alabaster), Adrenia Hoggle (Centreville), Doris Doss (Columbiana) and Kenny Gaut (Childersburg); stepson, Charles Ray Dodd (Oakman); brothers, Oneal Anthony (Gardendale) and Glen Dale Anthony (Birmingham); sister, Lillian Milligan (Center Point); 23 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
