World War II Veteran, Robert Frederick Pilkington, born Nov. 15, 1924, of Sterrett, age 88, passed away peacefully in Alexander City, June 16, 2013.

A member of the 91st Platoon U.S. Marine Corp, San Diego, 1941, served as Private First Class in Action at Guadalcanal.

Mr. Pilkington is preceded in death by his wife, Clara Kathleen Pilkington; daughters, Kathy Pilkington, Bobbie Ann Pilkington and Louise Holsomback.

He is survived by his children, daughter, Ruth Nan Pilkington, son and daughter-in-law, Danny Pilkington (Connie) and son and daughter-in-law, David Pilkington (Regina); grandchildren, Tony Holsomback, Timothy Holsomback, Honda Pilkington, April Minton, Jonathan Pilkington, Aaron Pilkington and Amanda Pilkington; great-grandchildren, Adrian Pilkington, Avalynn Pilkington and Leslie Ann Minton; brother, Harvey Pilkington; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Services will be held at Abundant Grace Church. Viewing and graveside service will be June 19 with viewing from 10-11 a.m. and graveside service at adjoining cemetery (Brasher’s Chapel) at 11 a.m. located at Highway 43, 3611 Bear Creek Road, Sterrett, AL 35147.
