Traffic safety checkpoints planned for weekend
FROM STAFF REPORTS
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office will conduct two planned traffic safety checkpoints during the July 4 weekend.
According to a sheriff’s office release, the first checkpoint will be July 6 between 1-3 a.m. on Cahaba Beach Road near the U.S. 280 intersection.
The second checkpoint will be July 7 between 1-3 a.m. on Alabama 119 near the Shelby County 22 intersection.
Deputies at the checkpoints will be in uniform, and they will drive marked patrol cars.
“The July 4 holiday weekend is often the deadliest time of the year to be on the road, with more traffic fatalities and alcohol-related accidents than any other time of the year,” Shelby County Sheriff Chris Curry said in the release.
