Randy Jamerson, though a city boy, is still part of a country family.

He was educated at Florida College and the University of Central Florida in Orlando. He even performed as Goofy at Walt Disney World while attending college. He married Jerrell Schmid in May of 1995.

“Both of our dads are ministers, so we had a ‘tag-team’ wedding,” he said.

A family-oriented man, Jamerson is happiest when doing something with wife, Jerrell, and sons Ethan, who is 16 and a student at Pelham High School, and Brendan, who is 14 and attends Helena Middle School. Ethan is first chair trumpet in the Pelham Wind Ensemble and Brandon is a trumpet player in the band at Helena Middle School.

Jamerson’s values, dreams and goals for his children are simply to put God first, go to heaven and everything else will fall into place.

“I want them to have a happy life and enjoy their work and families like I do – and a granddaughter for my wife would be nice,” he said.

In 2001, the Elliottsville Church of Christ asked Jamerson to temporarily preach for them after their regular preacher took another job. Twelve years later, Jamerson is still there.

“It is great for me and it makes me study (something I should do anyway) and since this is not my full-time occupation, the congregation has the funds to help preachers in other places,” he said.

Jamerson said the church is non-denominational and has no creed except the Bible.

“Elliottsville Church of Christ has many talented and hard working people willing to teach, preach and encourage. Our congregation has peace and harmony and we don’t take it for granted. We work hard to have unity,” he said.

Jamerson was previously at EBSCO for 18 years and is now at NCP Solutions in the printing/graphic arts industry.

“A visit to the Holy Land would be wonderful and someday we hope to visit South Africa to assist others who are already there spreading the gospel of Christ,” he said.
