Holland Brown crowned Miss Shelby County

COLUMBIANA – Trussville native Holland Brown was crowned Miss Shelby County 2014 at the Miss Shelby County pageant Friday, July 19.

Brown was crowned Miss Auburn University January 7 and will compete in the 2014 Miss Alabama Pageant.

Brown said she is excited to be able to promote her platform, juvenile diabetes.

“I’m just really excited about being able to promote my platform,” Brown said. “I’ve heard this community is so supportive.”

In the Miss Shelby County Outstanding Teen competition, Mikaylah Dugans won Outstanding Teen and the fitness and talent competitions. Dugans is a Springville, Ala. native and said the pageant has made her a well-spoken, poised lady.

“It means a lot,” Dugans said. “It’s something that’s not only changed my life but also changed my family’s.”

Brown and Dugans were crowned Miss Shelby County 2014 by Miss Shelby County 2013 Jamie Brooks. Chandler Champion, Miss Alabama 2013, served as the Mistress of Ceremonies.
