Esther B. Lowery, 89, of Hurst, Texas, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013. Funeral is July 22 at 2 p.m. at the Providence Baptist Church in Montevallo.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edith and John Huff Burkhalter; her husband of 53 years, Rev. Fred L. Lowery; son, John Lowery; siblings, Mary Burkhalter, Rev. Clark Burkhalter, Sam Burkhalter, Raymond Burkhalter and Marshall Burkhalter; and one great-grandson, Jake Ewing.

Esther was a devoted Christian, pastor’s wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and a prayer warrior for many over the years. She considered her legacy to be her children.

To carry on her legacy, Esther leaves one daughter, Mrs. Jean Lowery Metts (Dr. Roy Metts) of Colleyville, Texas; two sons, Dr. Fred Lowery (Leigh) of Bossier City, La., and Dr. Charles Lowery (Penny) of Dallas, Texas.

Nine grandchildren, Dr. Brent Metts (Jessica) of Rockwall, Texas, Mandy Metts Welton (John) of Denton, Texas, Christy Lowery Faciane (Ky) of Collierville, Tenn., Shelby Lowery Koch (Jon) of Austin, Texas, Trina Lowery Greenwood (Anthony) of N. Augusta, S.C.; Howard F. Lowery of Aiken, S.C.; Angela Lowery Cunningham (Jon) of Prosper, Texas, Kasey Lowery Ewing (Brad) of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Breanne Lowery Vasquez (Paul) of Destin, Fla.

23 great-grandchildren, Nathan Metts, Jonathan Metts, Madison Millek and Michael Metts; Laura Leigh Faciane, Lilibeth Faciane and William Faciane; Hudson Koch, Sophie Koch, Ruthie Koch and Jacquayline; McKenzie Cunningham, Greyson Cunningham, Cas Cunningham and Malia Cunningham; Drew Ewing and Jackson Ewing; Isabel Vasquez, Ian Vasquez, Ava Vasquez and Ella Micah Vasquez; Ansley S. Tyler and Anthony M. Greenwood Jr.

Pallbearers will be Brent Metts, Howard Lowery, Brad Ewing, Jon Cunningham, Paul Vasquez, Ky Faciane, Jon Koch, Jon Welton and Stuart Burkhalter. Serving Mrs. Lowery as honorary pallbearers will be Drew Ewing, Grey Cunningham, Cas Cunningham, Jackson Ewing, Will Faciane, Anthony Greenwood, Hudson Koch, Nathan Metts, Jonathan Metts and Michael Metts.
