The suspect in the robbery of two convenience stores this weekend was taken into custody by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Monday, July 22 at 10 a.m., according to a press release from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect, Shannon Loyd Crumpton, was taken into custody for an outstanding felony escape warrent for escaping from a work release program in Montgomery, the press release said. Sheriff’s deputies also identified Crumpton as the suspect in the robberies of a Shelby convenience store July 21 and a Jemison convenience store July 20.

In another press release by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office released earlier this morning, deputies reportedly found the getaway car used in the convenience store robberies late July 21. The car was found on the night of July 21 in “deep woods,” according to the press release. The car was found unoccupied.
