The Saginaw-based Family Connection organization is asking for the public’s help to win a national video contest.

The contest is sponsored by the National Safe Place organization, which organizes thousands of Safe Place shelters in the United States.

When Family Connection learned about the contest, a group of volunteers worked to produce a video highlighting the importance of Safe Houses, said Family Connection Executive Director Susan Johnston.

“We have made it into the top two videos in the country,” Johnston said on July 25. “And we need everyone’s help to make sure we win.”

As a result of making it to the top two, the Family Connection video is now posted on the National Safe House Facebook page, along with another top video from Fresno, Calif.

The voting period will run from July 25-Aug. 7 on the Facebook page, and the video with the highest number of likes will win. The winning video will be used to promote National Safe House, and Family Connection would receive national exposure for winning, Johnston said.
