Alabaster’s Creek View Elementary School will welcome its students back with a bash in August.

The school’s third-annual Back 2 School Bash will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the school campus, which is off Shelby County 17. The event will be sponsored by Tim Mitchell of Keller Williams, who frequently supports events at CVES, said school Parent-Teacher Organization publicity chair Trisa Moutarier.

This year, event organizers have added events in an effort to attract Alabaster students of all ages.

“In addition to changing out some of the rides and activities, last year we took a page from the CityFest playbook, and with the help of a grant we received from the Alabaster Arts Council, added an art tent where anyone could either paint or make jewelry,” Moutardier wrote in an email.

Organizers also have added a cooling station near the food vendors to help visitors handle the hot summer weather.

Returning attractions include swings, a bungee trampoline, a 24-foot rock-climbing wall, a human somersault ride and a train ride for children 4 and younger. The dunking booth will also return, and will give students a chance to dunk their teachers and CVES Principal Brent Byars.

Unlimited passes to all the rides is $20 for those 5 years old and older and $5 for children 4 and younger. Admission is cash only.

“This cost allows our guests to ride any ride, participate in the art tent activities and play any game as often as they like,” Moutardier wrote.

The event is manned each year by PTO volunteers, teachers, Thompson High School students and representatives from other local organizations.

“The Back 2 School Bash is a wonderful event hosted by the CVES PTO for our community as a last hurrah to the summer,” Moutardier wrote.
