Thomas Edward Wynn, 73, of Mooresville, passed away Aug. 1, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born in Birmingham on March 7, 1940, to the late Ted Ridgley and Margaret Lee Wynn. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Wynn; and a brother, Ted Wynn.

He is survived by his bride of 51 years and the love of his life, Mable Bentley Wynn; sister, Carolyn Leverett; son, Thomas E. Wynn II (Tonda); daughter, Shelly Housknecht (Gerald); grandchildren, Rachel Wynn and Frank Wynn; numerous nieces and nephews; and his extended family.

Tom graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor’s of science degree in electrical engineering. He worked at the Kennedy Space Center on Project Apollo, “the first man lunar landing,” and spent many rewarding years with IBM.

A memorial service will be held on Aug. 10 at 11 a.m. at Lakeside Fellowship Church with Pastor Joseph Alghrary officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658. Donations should specify “In Memory of Thomas Wynn” and also to Lakeside Fellowship Church, 381 Williamson Rd., Mooresville, NC 28117.
