James (Jamie) Howard Lucas

James (Jamie) Howard Lucas, born Aug. 27, 1928, in Aldrich, passed away at his home with his family in Calera on Aug. 6, 2013. He was a Korean War Veteran. He retired from U.S. Steel Production Planning Department and later from truck driving. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church and Calera Masonic Lodge No. 445.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rosalyn “Lyn” Sullivan Lucas; son, James H. “Pete” Lucas Jr.; daughters, Joy Lucas and Jan Lucas; and grandsons, Jeff Lucas and Rick Lucas (Jen); brothers, Glenn Lucas (Lois) and Evander M. “Bud” Lucas; sisters, Estelle Blackmon, Dorothy Stephens and Faye Cecil (Farrell); and sister-in-law, Mary Lucas; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Evander and Meadie Lucas; and brothers, Earl “Sonny” Lucas and Leroy Lucas.

Visitation will be held on Aug. 8 at Rockco Funeral Home Montevallo from 1-2 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Trawick officiating. Interment will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens.
