CSX crews are replacing a railroad crossing signal on 11th Avenue in Alabaster after a train collided with a truck pulling a trailer on Aug. 7.

The wreck happened at about 12:25 p.m. when the truck and trailer became stuck on the tracks, which are near the Alabaster Senior Center and the under-construction new City Hall.

The truck’s driver attempted to unload the trailer, but was unable to do so before a train traveling southbound struck the trailer, said Alabaster Police Chief Curtis Rigney.

No injuries were reported in the wreck, but the lighted railroad crossing signal on the Senior Center side of the tracks was destroyed.

No property at the Senior Center or the new City Hall was damaged in the incident, according to Alabaster City Manager George Henry.
