Zenoba Peters Harmon

Zenoba Harmon was born Jan. 9, 1924, and passed away at her home in West Blocton on Aug. 2, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jack C. Harmon. She is survived by her son, Don T. Harmon (Loretta); daughters, Sharon Major (Lee) of West Blocton and Judy Acker (Dan) of Alabaster; brother, Thomas Peters of Tuscaloosa; sisters, Carolyn Gray of Montevallo and Ruelane Bice (Corky) of Brierfield; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends.

She graduated from Montevallo High School and was a homemaker who loved her family and gardening. Guests were always welcome at her table. She served in her church and in the community.

Services will be held at Rockco’s Funeral Home in Centreville. Visitation was held Aug. 5 from 9:30-11 a.m. with funeral service at 11 a.m. and burial immediately following at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy McSpadden and Rev. Doug Eads officiated.

Pall bearers were Coleman Harmon, Dr. Wayne Peters, Wade Bice, Harmon Acker, Jade Acker, Jason Major, Kevin Major and Zack Major. Honorary pall bearers were Dr. Jon O. Issis, Dr. Justin Mollenger, Dr. Ira Holt, West Alabama Hospice, Amedysis Home Health, Marcy Smalley, Sydney Acker, Ann Sheppard and Ann Caffee.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to her grandson’s nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, Refuge and Hope International, P.O. Box 221, Alabaster, AL 35007.
