Alabaster’s Amazing Grace Worship Center is bringing some rodeo action to town this weekend to help raise money to combat human trafficking all over the world.

The church is hosing its fifth-annual Rescue 1 Rodeo Aug. 23-24 at Ray’s Arena on Chilton County 191 in Jemison.

Amazing Grace Worship Center, which is on U.S. 31 south near the Alabaster-Calera line, has teamed up with the Professional Cowboy Association and the 3R Rodeo Company to organize the Rescue 1 Rodeo event.

Gates for the event will open at 6 p.m. each night, and the rodeo will feature food, games, vendors and a family friendly atmosphere, church officials said. Tickets are $15 for adults, and are $10 for children ages 5-10.

All proceeds generated during the event will benefit the Tennessee-based Rescue 1 organization, which works to combat human trafficking all over the world.

Since starting the Rescue 1 Rodeo, the church has raised more than $30,000 to donate to Rescue 1, said church member Daphanie McClure. Last year, the rodeo drew more than 4,000 attendees, and the church is looking to raise the number to 6,000 this year.
