Top recruit hungry for more

Marlon Humphrey is that rare combination of football player and raw athlete. The Hoover senior cornerback is fast, as evidenced by his state and national records in track in field. He’s a ball hawk, having picked off 10 passes in his first two seasons on Hoover’s varsity football team, and broken up 24 more. When he gets the ball, he knows what to do with it. He has had three kick return touchdowns and four defensive return touchdowns in his career.
Humphrey, the highest-touted college football recruit in the state of Alabama, is embarking on his senior season with the Bucs, and though expectations for his senior year and college prospects are through the roof, perhaps the most important thing about him is that he has a humble, workmanlike mentality about it all.
“The biggest thing is his expectations for himself,” Hoover coach Josh Niblett said. “We expect him to play well and be good at what he does. Anytime you’re as high-profile as he has, you’ve got to stay humble and not become complacent with where you are. He’s never been complacent.”
