Floyd Gentry, age 88, of Pelham, passed away on Aug. 28, 2013, in his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Gentry was born in Alabama on Aug. 22, 1925, the son to Mr. Ernest Eugene and Velma Baily Gentry.

Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Billie Sue Gentry, who passed away on July 1; parents, Ernest and Velma Gentry; stepfather, Maynard Burnett; brothers, Bill, Jake and Lloyd Gentry and Marvin Burnett; and sister, Helen Robinson.

His survivors include his daughter, Diane Pridgen; son, Keith Gentry (Donna); sisters, Lois Pate and Lucille McGaughy; brother, Marlin Burnett (Glenda); grandchildren, Josh Pridgen (Kourtney), Corey Gentry and Kendra Gentry Winfrey.

The family received friends at Oak Mountain Independent Church on Aug. 30 from noon-2 p.m. with funeral services following at 2 p.m. at the church. Brother George Golden officiated. Burial was in Oak Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.
