Montevallo men’s soccer ranked in NSCAA poll

MONTEVALLO — The University of Montevallo men’s soccer team has gotten off to a hot start in the 2013 season. They have a record of 2-0-0 after defeating Eckerd College and Talladega College. More praise has been heaped on this group of Falcons, as they have been ranked eighth in the southeast regional poll put out the National Soccer Coaches of America Association (NSCAA).

Montevallo has been visible on many preseason polls. They were picked to finish fourth in the stacked Peach Belt Conference and were ranked eighth nationally and firstt in the southeast and conference by the BennetRank poll.

The Peach Belt Conference is well represented in the NSCAA poll. Flagler (first), Lander (third), UNC-Pembroke (fourth), Young Harris (fifth), and Clayton State (tied-ninth) were all also ranked in the southeast region. Flagler (fourth), Lander (15th), and UNC-Pembroke (24th) were also ranked in the national poll.

The University of Montevallo men’s soccer team returns to action Sept. 10, at Varsity Field. They will take on the West Alabama Tigers in a non-conference matchup at 7:30 p.m.
