County volleyball roundup for Sept. 12

The following is a roundup of county volleyball scores for Sept. 12:

Coosa Valley takes Kingwood

The Coosa Valley Academy Rebels’ volleyball team defeated Kingwood Christian in five sets.

KCS opened up the match by taking the first set 25-19. Coosa Valley responded by grabbing the second set by the same score. Kingwood won the third set, again by a score of 25-19.

Down 2-1 in the match, Coosa Valley came back to take the fourth set, 25-17. In the fifth and final round, CVA prevailed 15-10 to take the match.

Sarah Warren led CVA with nine aces, 13 digs and 17 assists. Allison Craft had eight aces, 11 and five kills for the Rebels.

Indian Springs sweeps Montevallo

Indian Springs School moved to 12-4 on the season with a sweep of Montevallo Sept. 12.

ISS jumped out to a 25-18 win in the first set of the match. The second set proved to be a close contest, as ISS hung on for a 25-23 victory. In the third set, ISS posted a convincing 25-12 fink score, taking the set and the match.

Stella Davis posted 12 kills and seven digs and Margot Balliet had five kills, six aces and nine digs for ISS. McKenna Anderson had nine kills and seven digs for Montevallo.

Oak Mountain shuts out Spain Park

The Oak Mountain Eagles hosted the Spain Park Jaguars in area play Sept. 12, with the Eagles sweeping the Jags, 3-0.

The opening set saw Oak Mountain take down Spain Park, winning 25-21. In the second set, the Eagles opened up a 10-point lead to capture it by a 25-15 score. The third set saw the Jaguars post a strong fight, falling short 23-25, giving OMHS the 3-0 match win.

Hannah Beach led Oak Mountain with 12 kills, 15 assists, four aces and eight digs. Shayla Williams had 16 digs and three aces.

Calera falls to Chelsea

The Calera Eagles fell to the Chelsea Hornets in four sets Sept. 12.

After taking the opening set, 25-21, Calera was unable to capture any others. The Hornets won three straight sets, 25-19, 25-19 and 25-14 respectively.

Akia Harris had 15 kills, four aces, six blocks and 22 digs for Calera. Keyanna Gayden had 11 kills and four blocks.
