A 19-year-old man died in a single-vehicle wreck on Shelby County 41 on the morning of Sept. 13.

Jacob Tyler Miller was driving an Audi A4 that left the roadway and struck a tree at approximately 2 a.m. on Friday morning, Alabama Department of Public Safety Sgt. Steve Jarrett said.

Jarrett said there were three passengers in the car.

“They were all injured and taken to UAB (Hospital),” he said.

Miller graduated from Oak Mountain High School in 2013, according to his online obituary on Johns-Ridout’s website.

“(He) was an active member and leader of his youth group at North Shelby Baptist Church, and recently participated in mission trips ministering to the urban neighborhoods in New York City, aiding storm victims in Mississippi, and building a church near St. Louis, Missouri,” the obituary stated.

Miller is survived by his parents, Greg and Martha Miller; brothers, Blake Miller and Hunter Farris; paternal grandmother Lexie Miller; maternal grandparents Lane and Ann Nichols; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 11 a.m. at North Shelby Baptist Church, followed by a private graveside service. Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 16 from 6-8 p.m. at North Shelby Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the Miller family requests contributions be made to the North Shelby Baptist Church Missions Fund, according to his obituary.
