The Briarwood Christian Lions found themselves unable to keep up with Homewood, as they lost on the road 38-14 Sept. 13.

Briarwood simply had no answer for the Patriots in the first half, as HHS jumped out to to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on a 1-yard Walter Rutledge run and a 14-yard Carson Griffis pass to Lawton Dorough, respectively.

Homewood found success through the air again, as Griffis hit Devonte Wallace for a 14-yard score at the 8:25 mark in the second quarter.

Griffis tacked on another touchdown pass, this time back to Dorough for 12 yards. After Leonardo Santos added his fourth extra point of the half, the score was 28-0 in favor of the Patriots, with 3:41 left in the second quarter.

Santos got on the board again with 24 seconds left in the half when he drilled a 28-yard field goal to put HHS up 31-0 headed into the half.

Briarwood finally got on the board at the 8:21 mark in the third quarter, as Will Edwards ran it in from 1-yard out. The Jonathan McGehee extra point was good, making the score 31-8 in the third.
