Briarwood goes 1-2 in Hartselle Tournament

The Briarwood Christian Lions’ volleyball team participated in the Eddie Pruitt Tournament on Sept. 14 in Hartselle, where the team won one match and lost two.

The Lions opened up with a match against Lee-Huntsville, where they captured a win. BCS swept the Generals in two sets, winning 25-20 and 28-26, respectively. Rachel Nix had six kills, Christie Roberston had 11 assists and Madison Chambers posted seven kills and two aces to lead the Lions.

The second match saw BCS take on Walker High, where the Lions were not able to duplicate the success found against Lee-Huntsville. The Vikings took the first set 26-24, and while Briarwood was able to win the second set, 25-17, they could not repeat, falling in the third set, 15-10. Hope Donahue had 10 digs, Nix had five kills and four aces and Chambers had four kills and two blocks for Briarwood.

The third set once again pitted BCS against Walker, with the Lions once again falling, this time in two sets. The Vikings were able to hold off the Briarwood attack, taking 25-21 and 25-19 set wins, respectively. Donahue once again led the team with 15 digs, Chambers had five kills, an ace and a block and Kayla Crumpler had three kills.
