Drivers on U.S. 31 between Alabaster and Calera should plan for extra travel time during the nighttime hours this week, as the Alabama Department of Transportation will continue to repave the stretch of road.

The repaving project will cause portions of U.S. 31 to be closed throughout the night for the next few days.

At 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, crews began closing north- and southbound lanes of U.S. 31 between Interstate 65 exit 231 in Calera and exit 238 in Alabaster. All lanes were reopened by 6 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16.

The lane closures will be held during the same times each night through the night of Thursday, Sept. 19.
