Col. John Ritchie “went to his reward” on Sept. 15, 2013.

He was born in New York on May 2, 1925. He served in four wars, graduated from West Point and retired after 33 years of service in the Air Force. He then went on to teach math at Chelsea High School for 11 years. He was a founding father of the City of Chelsea.

He is survived by his loving wife, Terry; four children, Laura, John, Frank and Steve; five grandchildren, Jeb, Jeff, Amanda, David and Jake; and four great-grandchildren, Jackson, McKenzie, Joseph and Emmet.

He believed in family, service and fun!

Memorial service to honor “the Col.” will be Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. with visitation at 3 p.m. at Morningstar United Methodist Church, 11072 Highway 11, in Chelsea.
