Local drivers should schedule extra time to traverse U.S. 31 in Calera and Alabaster during the evening hours this week, as the Alabama Department of Transportation is continuing to repave the road.

Beginning at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, crews began closing portions of U.S. 31 between Interstate 65 exit 231 in Calera and exit 238 in Alabaster. All lanes were reopened by 6 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 23.

Portions of U.S. 31 will be closed during the same times each night through the night of Thursday, Sept. 26, according to ALDOT.
